Dubai: Standing beside his Ford Mustang GT 390, Bob Jarmson, a school teacher from Dubai, had no problem posing for photographs.
His well-shaped 1967 red muscle car was a photographer's delight and was one among the 200 custom-made cars, trucks, SUVs, sports cars, bikes and quads raring to go in a special event held yesterday to mark the 36th anniversary of the UAE National Day.
"It's a completely restored car. I brought it over from Canada in May. It is the only one in the Middle East," said Jarmon, who teaches art, photography and design at a school in Dubai.
The classic car parade was organised by the Automobile and Touring Club (ATC) with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Youth & Community Development.
It got under way at 2pm beside Palm Strip on Jumeirah Beach Road, winding through the streets of Dubai all the way to the Al Mamzar Corniche where a beach carnival of family activities was held.
