Abu Dhabi: A state-of-art facility will be run by the Emirates Identity Authority (Emirates ID) on experimental operation basis at its new Sharjah registration centre a Al Rahmania area. The temporary registration centre at Al Ta'awun area shut down yesterday.

The new centre, the largest Emirates ID registration centre in the emirate, has the capacity to cater to 2,600 people on a daily basis.

The new centre features eight registration counters for males, and six for females in the trial phase and this number will be increased gradually depending on the number of customers before the centre is officially opened and becomes fully operational.

The building has two floors and is designed to accommodate more than 26 registration lines (16 for males and 10 for females). It has 250 parking spaces for customers and also includes a prayer room and a cafe for the convenience of customers and staff.

Relocating from the temporary centre at Al Ta'awun, which is closed with effect yesterday, to the new premises is part of Emirates ID's ongoing efforts to upgrade its facilities across the country to provide quality experience to customers.

The centre also has the latest equipment and devices capable of providing superior facilities and services to customers, in addition to special arrangements for people with disabilities.

Emirates ID has already notified customers with pre-appointments through SMS to visit its new centre in Al Rahmania to complete the registration procedures such as fingerprinting and photographing.

The authority has urged customers to visit the registration centres at the appointed time so that they can complete the registration procedures comfortably in less than 10 minutes. Appointments can be rescheduled by calling the EID call centre.
