Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Farmers’ Services Centre (ADFSC) has opened a market for the sale of local livestock in Al Hayer, about 25km from Al Ain, along the Dubai-Al Ain road. The market provides livestock owners the opportunity to sell sheep, goats, camels and cows directly to consumers. The market will open every Thursday, and ADFSC will conduct auctions two Saturdays a month.

The market can hold up to 1,200 sheep and goats as well as 60 camels and cattle. The stalls can be reserved free of charge for ADFSC members.

The market will increase operating days if there is sufficient demand, and ADFSC has plans to open similar markets in other areas of Abu Dhabi emirate.

The market is prepared and equipped for the safe handling of animals, and all stalls are shaded. ADFSC members who are livestock owners are asked to reserve a space three days in advance.
