Abu Dhabi: A total of 663 new homes will be distributed to Emirati families in the capital from Sunday onwards, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent on Wednesday.
The houses in Al Falah area have been granted to eligible families following the decree of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and under the directives of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
Beneficiaries for the grant are selected based on their level of need for new housing. Factors that are considered include family size, the special needs of earning members, whether parents are divorced, and whether breadwinners are deceased.
The municipality statement said that all counters at its headquarters on Shaikh Zayed Street will work to hand over the title deeds, keys and power supply approval documents to new owners on Sunday. Beneficiaries can visit the facility from 8am to 8pm. The required certificates for property transfer, engineering drawings for each house and a list of telephone numbers of maintenance firms have already been prepared for the convenience of home owners.
To obtain access to the houses, beneficiaries must present copies of a valid passport and family book, as well as their original Emirates ID.
The new homes are located in a master planned Emirati community with 4,857 villas spread over 12.5 million square metres and five residential districts. The villas have each been designed in one of three architectural prototypes. Neighbourhoods will also include mosques, schools and other amenities.
The residential project is being developed and handed over by Aldar Properties in several phases. The first set of completed houses was presented to 1,000 recipients in August 2012, while another set of 1,000 beneficiaries received keys to their homes in October 2012. A third set of 1,326 completed villas was handed over to new owners in August last year. In January 2014, 391 more families received keys to their new homes.
