Al Ain: People with special needs, the elderly, widows and divorcees will now be able to phone for door-to-door municipality services.
Launched by Dr Mohammad Mattar Al Nuaimi, Director General of Al Ain Municipality, the service will be available only in the city's Central District.
It will be run on a pilot basis and will be available in other districts depending upon its success and if there is public demand, said a municipality official.
"It is an initiative to ensure speed and quality of services to the elderly and those with special needs, widows and divorcees," said Dr Al Nuaimi.
The civic body has prepared a special vehicle for the service, equipping it with computers, printers, scanners and a wireless network linked to the main municipality office.
The service can be requested by calling 993. Operators will collect the applicant's details and the nature of the required service. The mobile service should reach the applicants residence within 15 minutes, said Al Nuaimi.
