Dubai: "As a mother, I had dreams for my son, I wanted to see him well educated and marry, have kids and live happily," said Mousa's mother who stay's awake most nights, weeping for her four-year-old.

The little boy was brutally raped and murdered in the washroom of a mosque in Al Quasis in November.

The Dubai Court on Monday confirmed the death sentence against a 30-year-old Emirati, Rashid Al Rashidi, who has been convicted of raping and premeditatedly killing the four-year-old Pakistani boy on the first day of Eid Al Adha.

Mousa's parents, who were present at the court to hear the verdict said they now want to the execution to happen soon so that their son can rest in peace.

"My dreams were shattered by the rapist who killed him. I will go to see him hanged. I don't know whether it will ease my pain," said Mousa's mother who was by then in tears.

Her husband Mukhtar Khuda Buksh, a driver, stood next to his wife consoling her. With tears streaming down his face too he said: "When I heard that the rapist was handed death I was so relieved."

The family now keeps a close watch on their other two children Mustafa and Mariam. Mustafa had just come from school when Gulf News visited the family home Monday.

Mousa's brother said: "I do miss Mousa. My mum told me that he is with Allah." His sister Mariam is too young to understand the gravity of the situation.

"I want to thank the legal system of Dubai and all the judges who ensured justice was served," said Mukhtar who says his prayers in the same mosque where his son was killed, but who makes sure that he is nowhere near the washroom where his son was brutally raped and murdered.

The family of the rapist said they were unaware that their son had received the death sentence and were shocked to learn about it. Gulf News found the mother devastated and unable to respond to any queries.
