Minister joins children at festivities
Rashid Paediatric Centre organises event to mark National Day.
Dubai: Children of Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre on Thursday shared with the UAE community their joy at the National Day celebrations.
The children welcomed the Minister of Environment and Water Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad who said that, "The celebration of the National Day with the children of Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre reflects our responsibility and commitment towards making them an integral part of the society," he said
The children was overjoyed as they flew balloons with the colours of the UAE flag. They sang patriotic songs including the new song Kullunna Khalifa written by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, who dedicated the song to the President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the occasion.
The children also cooked, under the supervision of their teachers, a traditional dish called Tharid which is made of chicken, vegetables and spices.
Popular Lebanese singer Walid Tawfiq, who frequently visits the children, also made an appearance at the celebration. He joined the children as they cooked the traditional dish, as well as accompanied the children in the singing. He also toured the centre to see the various facilities and programmes at the centre. Director of the centre Mariam Al Othman presented him the shield of the Centre.
