Massage parlour closed after man storms in, beats up son and woman
A teacher stormed into a massage parlour and dragged his adolescent son outside after discovering his son's whereabouts from friends.
The 46-year-old Egyptian flew into a rage, hitting his son and slapping the woman he was with.
When the altercation spilled onto the street, a group of bystanders tried to help but had to call the police when the father continued to beat his 16-year-old son.
Police officers arrived and intervened. After listening to the father's complaints, the officers asked the authorities for a search warrant so they could raid the massage parlour, where they found three Chinese women working on tourist and visit visas. Police closed the shop and detained the three women.
The teenager is thought to have met one of the Chinese women in a shopping mall.
The father became suspicious when he heard talk of his son's relationship from friends. He believed his son had fallen in love with the woman and she had encouraged him to visit her place of business.
The Chinese woman was questioned about her relationship with the boy, but denied having met him before he showed up at the massage parlour.
The father, who was present as the woman was being questioned, refused to accept her version of events and began insulting her.
He was able to give police the woman's mobile-phone number since his wife had copied it from their son's phone. The boy told the police he was asked to pay Dh150 for an hour's service.
Even if the services of the massage parlour were legitimate, the 16-year-old boy is too young to use them because the emirate's municipal law says customers must be at least 21 years old.
The women claimed it was difficult for them to check the credentials of all their customers and added that the boy was so tall they thought he was an adult.
The father signed a statement declaring he would look after his son more carefully.
He also urged the Ras Al Khaimah authorities to shut down all the massage parlours in the emirate because they "threaten future generations."
The three Chinese women were charged with running a massage parlour for illegal purposes, accepting an underage boy as a customer and operating without the proper visas.
A senior police official told Gulf News that licensing procedures should be reviewed since many massage parlours in Ras Al Khaimah are conducting illegal activities.
Officials say they have taken steps to monitor the operations of massage parlours, but many parlours do not comply with the law.
A municipal official said massage parlours will be discussed in the coming meeting of the municipal council.
More than 120 massage parlours operate in the emirate, with another 250 awaiting approval to open for business.
