Dubai: The body of a Bangladeshi man was found on Sunday morning hanging from the ceiling of a deserted house, confirmed a police source.

His roommate for the past 10 years told Gulf News that J.S. went missing for six days and did not come back to his residence. J.S. had been sharing a room in a villa with three other men for the past 10 years.

"He was my close friend for the past 10 years and I honestly did not see this coming. I knew he had financial problems and owed money to many friends. He couldn’t repay his bank loans," said his roommate.

The 45-year-old man is believed to have lost his job around six months ago due to mounting debts. He even lost communication with his family for the past two months, said his roommate.

"He is a very good man but he just couldn’t deal with his financial burden. I tried to advice him to limit his loans. I am not quite sure how he spent all the money. He was threatened by the people he borrowed money from. They would knock on our door constantly asking for him," said his friend.

His roommate said that few friends spotted J.S. a few days ago sitting on the pavement outside the house. The neighbouring villa is where J.S. was found by his roommate hanging from the ceiling.

"Foul smell started emanating from the house next to us. When I opened the door I saw my friend hanging by a wire from the ceiling," he said.

A Dubai Police source confirmed the suicide case saying that investigations are still undergoing to determine the reasons behind it.
