LG Electronics has recently entered the UAE's mobile phone market with its LG-600 and LG-510W handsets.

"An additional model for the budget conscious will hit the market within the next month and several new models, including a full colour screen version will be introduced in the third quarter," said M.B. Shin, president, LG Electronics‚ Middle East & Africa Operations.

"We are also planning to shortly launch into the Saudi, Bahrain and Omani market, which is in line with the company's plan to supply over 11 million handsets globally this year," said Shin.

LG plans to develop a wide range of products, such as CDMA, GSM and 3G handsets while focusing on making inroads into the international market to increase its global handset supply from 15 million sets this year, to 25 million sets in 2003 and 35 million in 2005.

Meanwhile, LG Electronics claims to be the first in the Gulf's central AC sector to bring advanced tele-control, where systems can be operated via a mobile phone.
