The move was in response to the recent initiative by Vice-President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum to use the anniversary of his accession as an opportunity to honour the emirate's workers.
Last Friday, Shaikh Mohammad urged that Accession Day celebrations this year be dedicated to thank and honour domestic workers, janitors, public transportation drivers, construction workers and office support workers.
The minister, the ministry's senior officials and inspectors had lunch with the workers on the site of the first dedicated children's hospital in the UAE.
In remarks at the site, the minister presented the workers with gifts offered by the Ministry of Labour and the construction company which is building the hospital.
He said cooperation between the ministry and Al Futtaim Carillion, the construction company, represents strategic partnership between the public and private sectors as well as commitment by employers to corporate social responsibility and to providing safe workplace.
