Dubai: The Indian Business and Professional Council (IBPC) should play the role of an adviser guiding government and semi-government UAE investors looking to make investments in developmental projects in India, said the Indian ambassador T.P. Seetharam.

The ambassador made this comment in light of the setbacks suffered by some companies purportedly due to collaborating with the wrong parties in India.

“IBPC should play a role as an adviser and help UAE in choosing the right partner in India. You all are part of the growth story of India. I want to meet all of you in smaller groups. We want you to give us your ideas, plans, projects and proposals, where we can work together,” said Seetharam.

The ambassador was speaking at a reception organised by the IBPC Dubai to welcome him and the new consul-general, Anurag Bhushan.

In his address to Indian businessmen, Bhushan said: “The embassy in Abu Dhabi and the consulate in Dubai are here to work together as a team. We will guide and support you in your endeavours. We don’t want your money but your ideas. Indians have contributed immensely in the growth of this country. Mow we want UAE to contribute to building the growth of India.”

Paras Shahdadpuri, IBPC president, said that both the officials are beginning their tenure in the golden era of Indi –UAE relationship which is centuries old and strongly founded on political, trade, economic, and investment co-operation. “India-UAE non-oil trade is at an all-time high figure of $75 billion (Dh275.41 billion) and IBPC is leading the efforts of various initiatives being made by the Indian Embassy and the Indian Consulate General.

Shahdadpuri added that this is the time to upgrade this relationship to a strategic partnership.
