Abu Dhabi: Gulf News delivery man Shajudeen Majid was killed in a motorbike accident on Thursday morning.

The accident happened at around 8am at the intersection in front of the General Women's Union in the Mushrif area.

The delivery man was taken by police ambulance to the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City.

"Majid was in a highly critical condition with severe head injury and multiple injuries. The bike was shattered into pieces and he was thrown off on to the pedestrian walkway.

"In the ambulance, we lost him for few seconds and then brought him back to life using CPR, but hours later he succumbed to the injuries at the hospital," said an official, who asked not to be named.

Majid, 40, hailed from Punalur in the South Indian state of Kerala. He is survived by his wife and child back home.

Colleagues at Gulf News remembered Majid as "a humble person who never raised his voice". He worked at the company for 13 years.

According to witness accounts, a car jumped a red light and crashed into the bike, but officials have yet to confirm this.
