Dubai: Your lunchtime just got a little more exciting.

Beginning today, Gulf News brings you all of the latest breaking news, business, sports and entertainment stories in video right to your computer, mobile phone or tablet.

Gulf News at Midday will be the first daily update webcast in English in the region.

“This is a very exciting development for Gulf News,” Abdul Hamid Ahmad, Editor-in-Chief and Executive Director of Publications at Al Nisr Publishing. “It shows our commitment to our readers and viewers in giving you the best news package, whether in print or on the web. There is nothing else like this in the region,” he said. “It harnesses the strengths of Gulf News by putting together all the news you need to know in a vibrant two-minute capsule.”

Gulf News at Midday airs at 1pm daily, offering you the latest news headlines from the UAE and around the world — all told within two minutes.

Gulfnews.com is already the most popular English-language news website in the Middle East.

Multimedia

It’s just part of the continuing developments at Gulf News. On June 1, the newspaper became the first in the region to switch to the handy and compact Berliner size. Now, with 3G and 4G networks becoming readily available, and with the ever-growing popularity of smartphones and tablets, Gulf News at Midday is a natural progression.

“We have been using video for the past three years to tell stories,” explained Video Editor Jaye Lentin. “It’s also proven to be a very popular medium with our viewers. By producing Gulf News at Midday five days a week, we’re harnessing the power of our news operations and multimedia capabilities together into a powerful story-telling package. And all under two minutes.”

Gulf News at Midday will be produced by senior editorial staff and will feature top stories from the UAE, the Gulf, around the world — and from business, sports and entertainment.

“If you want to know what’s happening quickly and concisely, then Gulf News at Midday is a must,” Abdul Hamid added. “The newspaper turns 34 later this month. It’s always grown by being innovative and not being afraid to be first — and the best.”

Gulf News at Midday can be viewed at gulfnews.com Sundays through Thursdays at 1pm.
