Ajman:  An unemployed Pakistani father is claiming that crystals come out of his 10-year-old daughter's eyes.

The young girl, Fatima, who does not go to school because of her father's financial status, has hard, small stones coming from her eyes, her family said.

Fatima presses on her eyes to produce soft drops, which turn into a kind of hard stone that look like crystals, the family said.

In 1996 a Lebanese father claimed that his 12-year-old daughter had crystals coming out of her eyes, but the story turned out to be fake.

Fatima's father told Gulf News that he went to a hospital in Sharjah to have his daughter's eyes checked but couldn't see a specialist doctor because he was asked to pay Dh250, which he did not have, he said.

"I have been jobless since February and we have no health cards so the hospital refused to check on my daughter," he said.

However, the father said he had visited the same hospital earlier and the doctor had told him this occurrence with his daughter's eyes was rare.

"The doctor asked me to come after two days but because I have had no money they refused to let my daughter see the doctor," Mohammad Zafar said on Tuesday.

Fatima said that the crystals emerged from her eyes when she pressed on her lower eye lid.
