Riyadh: Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) called upon Iran to respond to the demands of the UAE in negotiations or referring its three occupied islands — Greater Tunb, Lesser Tunb and Abu Mousa — issue to the International Court of Justice.
He also called to deal with the Iranian nuclear file in a peaceful manner, according to UN resolutions and the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) decisions.
This call came in a comprehensive lecture delivered by Al Attiyah about the GCC's achievements which was delivered at the Saint Clair University Campus in Michigan.
The lecture was attended by the university's professors, board of trustee members, students and a number of the State of Michigan government, in addition to members of the Arab community in the state. The GCC's General Secretariat said that the lecture covered all the council's achievements since its establishment in 1981, and the stands of GCC countries regarding the region's issues.
Al Attiyah also talked about the achievements of the council in enhancing the role of women in development.
He also talked about the Middle East issue and the importance of the Arab peace initiative in reaching a just and enduring peace in the area, and establishing the Palestinian sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
