Free Sammy song makes sound waves on the radio
It is sung to tune of Jackson's Free The World
Dubai: Sammy the Shark now has her own song on the airwaves.
Radio disk jockeys have jumped on the bandwagon of saving Sammy the Shark, who has been in captivity at the Atlantis Hotel for 40 days, by airing their own song on the local airwaves.
Listeners tuned in yesterday to Dubai 92 radio station were in for a surprise when DJ Catboy and Geordiebird composed their own Free Sammy song. The song can also be heard on the radio station's website.
Free the whale shark
Make it a better place
For all the small fish who are scared they might be eaten
There are frogs and dolphins who are scared they might be dinner
Make it a better place
And let Sammy go
The two minute song pleads for the whale shark to be set free, and is sung to the tune of Michael Jackson's Free the World.
"When I heard the song for the first time, I was definitely taken aback. It caught my attention because the tune was so familiar, and the lyrics were entertaining. I think it definitely delivers the message that the whale shark should be free," said Juliet Santos, a resident who heard the song while driving to work.
