Abu Dhabi: Over 85 per cent of the wheat ordered by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan to be delivered to Egypt has been received by Egypt.

Cargo ships carrying 850,000 tonnes of wheat have arrived at Egyptian ports.

The wheat is given by the government and people of the UAE as a gift to the people of Egypt to lessen their hardships brought about by spiralling prices for staple food.

Egypt will receive the remaining quantity of the million tonnes of wheat ordered by the president within a month, a statement from Abu Dhabi Finance Department said.
