Focus on Khalifa's achievements

The study entitled Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan: Determination and Strength, stressed that Sheikh Khalifa, who was trained by President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, remained committed to the President under whom he continues to serve with utmost dedication, sincerity and love for his country and people.
The study said that Sheikh Khalifa is one of the Arab leaders who has contributed and continue to make generous contributions to local, Arab and international issues, adding that his significant efforts and contributions in building the UAE can not be overemphasised.
The study also touched on Sheikh Khalifa's vision of modern technologies and their role in building a vigilant society capable of facing the challenges and shaping its future.
According to the study, Sheikh Khalifa said the qualitative leap in the field of technology achieved by the UAE is not an outcome of emergency or an exceptional situation but it was the fruit of hard and dedicated work accompanied by a comprehensive strategy for development laid down by President His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
Sheikh Khalifa strived to make planning fuelled by dynamism, accelerations and flexibility consistent with the demands of the time. As a result, Sheikh Khalifa asserted: "As we are part of this world, it was natural to issue directions to enact laws to crystallise the modern vision consistent with the demands of the age of globalisation.
He added: "Within the framework of these directions Sheikh Zayed urged his people to seek modern sciences wholeheartedly to enable their country to achieve qualitative change in economic, military and security fields in the third millennium so that the existing gap between the UAE and the advanced countries could be bridged in the shortest possible time.
Sheikh Khalifa paid great attention to establishing scientific and technical institutions to prepare young men to shoulder their responsibilities in the world overwhelmed with technology and swept by a revolution in communication.
On many occasions Sheikh Khalifa expressed his satisfaction at the achievements in modernising and developing the country. Sheikh Khalifa said: "We succeeded in entering the new millennium with more confidence and ability and readiness to interact with the new developments in the world, in particular, the new economic system accompanied by revolution in information technology and communication as well as open markets with the enforcement of WTO regulations.
He also said: "These developments didn't constitute any burden on the UAE, or a change that was difficult to deal with. Thanks to the sagacious leadership of our country that had a modern vision that put our country on the path of success.
Sheikh Khalifa attached great importance to attracting technology and interacting with it through opening opportunities of investment to foreign companies as an instrument for the transfer of the specialised advanced technology for the sake of benefiting in developing the economic base of the UAE as well as training and preparing the local manpower in this field.
The study also reviewed water security, citizenship , planning and development of human resources in the thought of Sheikh Khalifa.
It touched on Sheikh khalifa's effort towards establishing Arab solidarity and defending the Arab issues especially the Palestinian cause. The study also tackled Abu Dhabi Crown Prince's role in boosting cooperation between the UAE and Europe.
