Abu Dhabi: The statement made by the UAE's Federal National Council (FNC) on the recent actions of Iran on Abu Mousa island has been circulated among parliaments of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) countries.
The general secretariat, based in Tehran, sent to the parliaments of the member countries a memorandum, a copy of which was sent to the FNC. The FNC statement is attached to the memorandum.
The FNC statement objected to the Iranian actions on the island and said that the setting up of two offices by Iran on the island was illegal and a flagrant violation of the 1971 memorandum of understanding which does not give Iran the sover-eignty over the island or even parts of it.
