Abu Dhabi: Quick action by a firefighter saved the life of an Emirati man and his six-year-old son who were trapped in a boat which caught fire as it was being refuelled.

First Sergeant Abdul Aziz Al Hammadi was later treated for severe smoke inhalation after he took the burning boat into the open sea.
The incident occurred in Al Marfa'a in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
"The father, Malek, 36-year-old boat owner, was initially treated on the scene for injuries. He sustained second degree burns and was rushed to Al Mafraq Hospital where he remains in a stable condition," said Colonel Mohammad Al Nuaimi, acting director general of Civil Defence.
The boy sustained minor injuries and is also under observation at the hospital," he said.
Six people had been trapped on the burning boat. The boat was being refuelled when the fire broke out, according to the Civil Defence.
