Expats call for war on extremists
Devastating blast in Islamabad has shocked the Pakistani community in the UAE
Al Ain: Pakistanis living in the UAE have asked for declaring a full fledged war against militants who have been mercilessly killing innocent people in different parts of Pakistan.
The devastating blast at the Marriott Hotel in Islamabad has shocked the community that expressed its feeling of desperation and anger on the huge destruction and loss of innocent human lives in the incident.
"The government must end its reservations, if any, and take a stern action against militants," said Badar Iftekhar, a prominent Pakistani businessman in Al Ain. He said this has become a war of Pakistan and the international community should cooperate with Islamabad instead of pressurising its new administration.
According to Akram Farooqi, a prominent Pakistani community leader in the UAE, "the international community must come forward to help Pakistan instead of criticising our efforts against terrorists."
Farooqi, who is also the representative of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the UAE, said the new government in Islamabad has the required determination. "It must declare an all-out war against militancy that has imposed a covert war on the people of Pakistan," he said.
Faceless enemy
Iqtedar Ali Kazmi, a Pakistani Banker, said Pakistan has been struggling against a faceless enemy and the government must mobilise all resources to flush it out.
"The gun culture must end, we are living in the 21st century and should concentrate on our social and economic problems to build a homeland for future generations," he said.
Religious hardliners have also killed hundreds in the cities of Dera Esmail Khan and Para Chinnar, he added.
"The cities have been rocking with bomb blasts for the last several months and government has failed in taking appropriate measures," he said.
