The Central Veterinary Research Laboratory's Equine Forensic Unit has been accredited by the National Association of Testing Authorities in Australia for its work in the forensic testing of animal body fluids.

The forensic unit analyses samples for the Emirates Racing Association, the UAE Camel Race Association and also for racing authorities in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman. Recently, the Royal Western India Turf Club joined the list of clients.

It is the first racing chemistry laboratory in the Middle East and North Africa and only the 12th in Europe, Asia and Australia to be accredited.

The forensic laboratory was set up in 1993 by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Minister of Defence.
