Abu Dhabi: A three-year-old Emirati child suffering from cancer was presented a pure-bred Arabian horse by Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, President’s Adviser.

Dr Shaikh Sultan’s humanitarian gesture aims to fulfil the wish of Khalid Saleh Al Menhali, who loves equestrian sports and is currently being treated at the Khalifa Hospital in Abu Dhabi.

Khalid’s family expressed their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr Shaikh Sultan for this great humanitarian gesture, and to the Make A Wish Foundation.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Hani Al Zubaidi, CEO of the Foundation, said that the foundations tries to make children happy by fulfilling their wishes. He thanked Dr Shaikh Sultan, who is always keen on launching humanitarian initiatives and supporting the foundation to carry out its plans to fulfil the wishes of as many children as possible.

The UAE chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation was set up in 2010 by Shaikha Shaikha Bint Saif Bin Mohammad Al Nahyan and is one of the foundation’s 48 branches around the world. The foundation is a prominent charity organisation that works in the field of children’s welfare. Since its launch, the organisation has reached out to more than 144,000 children around the world. The foundation’s objectives are to fulfil the wishes of children, and create an atmosphere of joy and love as tens of activities are organised throughout the year for children aged between three and 18 and who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses.

Fulfilled wishes usually consist of a child’s desire to meet a prominent figure, travelling to a destination of their choice, presenting them an item that they desire, or allowing them to play the role of a certain profession that they wished to be, such as becoming a policeman for a day.
