Abu Dhabi: A week-long summer camp for Emirati youth was successfully carried out by Emirates Foundation’s Takatof programme.

The summer camp was held in Abu Dhabi, with tens of Emirati youth from the ages of 15-18 attending the camp. The summer camp was the first such initiative launched by Takatof, with the aim of training and equipping young Emiratis with the necessary skills to be able to engage and help with the community.

Maitha Al Habsi, Chief Programmes Officer at the Emirates Foundation, spoke positively about the summer camp.

“At Emirates Foundation, we aim to have a positive impact on the lives of Emirati youth.”

“We have a moral duty towards this young generation and we devote our time and efforts to play an important role to empower them and provide them with the necessary skills that would enable them to give back to their communities and create a positive social impact. We hope to encourage more young Emirati youth to participate in the betterment of our community.”

As well as giving training to the Emirati youth, workshops were also held to educate the attendees on being environmentally friendly and conserving energy, as well as educating them on managing their personal finances in order to secure a stable future.

Takatof was established in 2007 under the patronage of General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The social programme is a voluntary initiative encouraging Emirati youth to join and take part in community engagements as well as international engagements.

Other projects carried out by Takatof include environmental campaigns, and renovating and maintaining community centres and homes for underprivileged families.
