Dubai to get three neighbourhood parks at a cost of Dh42m
Dubai Municipality will construct three parks in Al Mizhar 1, Al Mizhar 2 and Nad Al Hamr at a cost of Dh42 million as part of its efforts to increase recreational facilities in the city.
Dubai: Three neighbourhood parks are to be built in the city at a cost of Dh42 million as part of Dubai Municipality's efforts to boost recreational facilities in the emirate.
Hussain Nasser Lootah, Acting Director-General of Dubai Municipality, said the designs for the parks in Al Mizhar 1, Al Mizhar 2 and Nad Al Hamr have been finalised and construction will start soon.
"The neighbourhood parks are being set up at various locations in the city taking into consideration the growing needs of people for more recreational space. Work on these parks will begin during the second half of this year and will take 10 to 11 months to complete," said Lootah.
He added each of the parks will include facilities such as dedicated playgrounds for children aged two to five years and six to twelve years, shaded rest areas will also be provided.
The playgrounds have been designed taking into account children with special needs. Appropriate games have been chosen to suit their tastes and needs. There will be a main play area consisting of football pitches, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, a main plaza with shaded seating areas, and a vast green area. There will be also be a jogging track inside the parks.
Explaining the municipality's policy in building neighbourhood parks, Lootah said: "The needs of residents are identified based on the variety of the populace [such as children, teenagers, adults, and the elderly) as well as the types of residential units in the area [detached villas, attached or semi-attached villas, multi-storey apartments). This will help serve each neighbourhood with unique recreational facilities."
He added the forthcoming projects will add a total 6.8 hectares of greenery to the urban landscape in line with the Strategic Plan for Dubai Municipality (2007 to 2011).
