Dubai: Officials from the Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police met and honoured the 12 survivors of the accident that killed 15 people on May 10, when their bus crashed into a truck that was parked on the side of Emirates Road on their way to work.

The bus was carrying 27 Asian labourers.

Colonel Adel Ahmad Al Kash, Director of Administrative Affairs at the department, said meeting the workers was part of the humanitarian initiatives undertaken by Dubai Police and its efforts to support various segments of society and lay the foundations for social and humanitarian work among members of the community.

Col Al Kash commended the response to the humanitarian initiative launched by Dubai Police.

He thanked the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Charity and Humanitarian Establishment, Dubai Charity Association, Al Maktoum Foundation and Dar Al Ber Society for their efforts in helping the families of the deceased and injured in providing financial support to ease the suffering of families.

The workers thanked Dubai Police for the help they provided them and their families, and for lifting their spirits after the accident.
