Dubai Police fulfilled obligations in Tamim murder case

Dubai: Dubai police have fulfilled their duty and obligation towards a fair trial in the murder of Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim, said Maj. Gen. Khamis Mattar Al Muzeina, Deputy Police Chief.

“The solid evidences provided to the Egyptian authorities by us have helped the proceedings of the trial,'' he said, noting Dubai police officers testified in the high-profile court case in Cairo.

He talked with reporters at press conference in Dubai on Thursday.

On Thursday, Egyptian authorities sentenced two men to death for killing Tamim; Politician Hesham Talaat Moustafa, former chairman of the Talaat Moustafa Group and security official Muhsen El Sukkari.

The court found that Moustafa paid $2 million to El Sukkari to stab Tamim to death at her Jumeirah Beach Residence flat in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates on July 28.
The men will most likely appeal.

At Thursday's Dubai press conference, meanwhile, Al Muzeina considered the severity of the sentence to reflect well on the case built by Dubai police during the Tamim investigation.

“We follow all our cases with the same level of importance,'' he said.

He hailed the strong ties between Dubai Police and the Egyptian authorities and said that this is not the first time both parties have cooperated at a high level.
