Dubai: Public parks were packed during the Eid Al Adha holidays, receiving around 295,000 people in the first three days of the festival, Dubai Municipality said.

The turnout was witnessed at six main Dubai parks. Some 180,000 people visited Zabeel, Mamzar, Safa, Khawaneej, Mushrif and Creek parks in the first two days.

“The increased number of visitors to the parks in Dubai, especially during festival seasons, indicates the growth of tourism and advanced facilities in the city of Dubai,” said Mohammad Al Fardan, head of parks section at the municipality.

“Mamzar and Jumeirah beach parks were on top in terms of the turnover of visitors, while Mushrif Park ranked third,” Al Fardan said.

The festivities in parks included shows, games, rides and fireworks

“More than 150 nationalities among residents and tourists visited the different parks in the emirate of Dubai. Most of them prefer Dubai as their loved place to spend time with their friends and families during festive seasons as it is considered one of the safest, cleanest and most beautiful cities in the world.”

Dubai has around 100 public and residential parks in different parts of the emirate. The public parks and horticulture department has been expanding the green areas in the emirate, opening new parks every year with the aim to be one of the top ten green and sustainable cities in the world ahead of hosting Expo 2020.
