Dubai: The Dubai Courts Department on Wednesday launched a special counter to provide litigants and other customers with swift and easier access to its electronic services.
The counter, located in Naif Hall — the DCD’s central hall, provides customers and litigants, including lawyers and legal representatives, with advanced and effective access to most of the department’s e-services, according to Dr Ahmad Bin Hazim Al Suwaidi, the DCD’s director-general. The e-services are available on www.dc.gov.ae.
“The department’s Central Services Section renders a long-list of e-services [at] Naif Hall that contains 26 counters. We, constantly, seek to satisfy our clients and provide them with the swiftest e-services. Today we are launching this special counter as it accepts all kinds of applications [for] e-services. One of those services is Al Salfa, an e-service that enables lawyers to lodge civil lawsuits remotely,” Dr Al Suwaidi said.
The Al Salfa e-service also enables lawyers or litigants to register real estate, commercial, labour and personal status cases remotely.
The DCD director-general said an employee would be stationed at the special counter to review the application thoroughly prior to having it approved.
“The counter also studies the case that is sent electronically in order to prepare the case file and have the case’s legal notification processed,” Dr Al Suwaidi said. “The Central Services Section is one of the most vital and vibrant sections at DCD. The Section received around 39,000 transactions last year. During this year’s first quarter, it handled 9773 transactions.”
The Central Services Section offers photocopying services as well as assistance with enquiries about trade and professional licenses, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) and letters from the General Directorate for Residency and Foreigner Affairs in Dubai. In addition, the section deals with requests for ‘To-whom-it-may-concern’ certificates, court decisions and adjournments, certificates for hearing dates as well as the payment of fees and many other services.
