Ras Al Khaimah: A Pakistani bulldozer driver has been hospitalised after he sustained moderate injuries when he jumped off a vehicle that lost control and fell off the top of a hill.

Sources here said the labourer was at work at the hilltop in the Al Rams area when the vehicle fell off the road. The driver was admitted to Saqr Hospital with moderate injuries. He has been discharged.

The bulldozer was destroyed and the company that owns it, with the help of the authorities, removed the wreckage from the site.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. The Civil Defence Department called on all transportation and construction companies to provide their labourers with the necessary safety gear.

A senior official urged workers to take precautions to avoid taking heavy vehicles to dangerous areas. He said the workers need to be careful when using heavy vehicles in mountainous areas or sand dunes.

The official said at least two labourers should be at a work site to help and look out for each other, especially in hazardous areas.

The official warned the companies to take necessary precautions in future to avoid such incidents that put the lives of their employees in danger.
