The Mohammed bin Rashid Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation has received a pledge of a donation from UAE businessman Mohammed Juma Al Naboodah to build and equip a camp in Afghanistan accommodating 10,000 refugees, it was announced yesterday.
Dr Hamad Al Shaibani, chairman of the donations committee, said the foundation will operate the camp.
A delegation which left two days ago along with a shipment of relief supplies ordered by General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Minister of Defence, was also assigned to establish the foundation's third refugee camp.
The committee will collect donations and coordinate with other charities to deliver the supplies to the refugees, Al Shaibani said, and to handle media coverage.
Donors, both organisations and individuals, may sponsor any number of refugees and provide them with whatever aid can be supplied regarding food, clothing, education and drilling of wells.
