Dubai Municipality has signed an agreement with "Tasjeel" for approving food transport vehicles that meet the hygiene requirements, as "Tasjeel" has its own specialists in testing food transport vehicles.

The Municipality has issued a hygiene requirements guide for food transport vehicles in May 2007 and since then it has approved more than 6,000 vehicles that distribute food in Dubai in accordance with the hygiene requirements of Dubai Municipality.

Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Head of Food Control Department in Dubai Municipality said: "This step is highly significant, since the food transport is one of the important parts of its conservation and safety. Many health-related problems have been caused by lack of food transport vehicles that meet the hygiene specifications and requirements."

He also called upon all establishments dealing with food in Dubai to ensure their conformity with the hygiene requirements for their vehicles.

Eyas Bin Hindi, Director General, "Tasjeel", ENOC, said: "We are pleased to cooperate with Dubai Municipality, which has entrusted to us the service of approving the food transport vehicles."

"This move reflects the Municipality's confidence in the efficiency of our team and the quality of the services we provide. We look forward to further cooperation with Dubai Municipality for the implementation of other agreements aimed at ensuring the future safety and security of the residents of the Emirate of Dubai," he said.

The Food Control Department in Dubai Municipality depends on the highest international standards and the latest systems in food safety laws. Hygiene requirements have been prepared for food transport vehicles within these standards and regulations.
