Contestants find teamwork vital in penultimate week
Dubai: The exuberance of youth hit a fever pitch at the Kilachand theatre on Thursday evening in the penultimate week of the Gulf News Blockbuster competition.
With a young and vibrant turnout of spectators that backed their respective teams to the hilt, catcalls and cheers played out simultaneously in one of the most high-adrenaline heats session of this year's edition.
Next week, the competition enters the semifinals stage with the final four teams battling it out for ultimate quizzing supremacy.
Fab 4, the winning team from the Indian High School said it was a smooth win for them and they are looking forward to the next round.
Part puzzle, part quiz
Aghalya Ramaswamy, an 11th grade commerce student said: "It was definitely a lot of fun being involved with this kind of a competition. Though the competition was fierce, every moment was thoroughly enjoyable with a terrific format that was partly like a quiz and partly like solving a puzzle.
"Each answer at the quiz helps in connecting one end to the other; that's the whole puzzle element that makes it so interesting," said Aghalya.
She said the competition was smooth sailing for the team of teenagers as they were well trained for the format. "At the Indian High School, we have a strong quiz culture and we are all members of the quiz club," said Aghalya.
Gatlin George, another Fab 4 member said they divided the tasks by assigning different topics to each member. "It was more like a fun team competition with a challenging environment for young students like us," said Gatlin.
The Muse, which emerged winners in Heat 4, also said it was a great competition that tested their wits and persistence.
