Construction worker killed after fall from high-rise
A construction worker plunged to his death from the balcony of a building under construction in Sharjah on Saturday, police said.
Sharjah: A construction worker plunged to his death from the balcony of a building under construction in Sharjah on Saturday, police said.
Police said the Bangladeshi man was working when he fell from the high-rise building under construction behind the police station in Buhairah Corniche.
The victim, who died on the spot, was initially taken to Al Kuwait Hospital. His body was subsequently sent to the forensic laboratory for autopsy.
The incident was reported to the police by a maintenance worker.
Police said they had not yet identified the dead man.
"He did not have any ID with him. We contacted the company where he worked to find out more details about him," police said.
"It looks more like a suicide and not a homicide, or he could have lost his balance and fallen down. We are questioning people who where with him and we will wait for the forensic laboratory's investigations to be completed," police said.
