Ras Al Khaimah: The management of a public school on Monday complained to authorities against a book depicting the Star of David being sold at a fair at the RAK exhibition centre.

The school organised a trip for its students to the fair where they bought books and stationary. But the management was shocked with some complaints from parents about books with the Star of David on them being sold to children.

A school representative said the book was about magic with some tools provided to children to play games — and that one of the tools was in the shape of the Star of David.

The families provided the school with samples of what they described as offensive books that should not be sold in the UAE.

The school called on students and families who participated in the trip and asked them to return to the management all the items with the Star of David on them.

The school then raised the issue with the authorities — the Department of Economic Development and the Chamber of Commerce — which said they had nothing to do with the fair.

The representative said the school then contacted the organisers of the fair and provided them with samples of the offending items. The organisers promised to remove all violating items from the shelves.
