Companies urged to obtain permit for storing hazardous and chemical materials

Dubai Municipality has urged companies storing hazardous goods or chemicals to strictly adhere by the guidelines issued by the civic body.

Dubai: Dubai Municipality has urged companies storing hazardous goods or chemicals to strictly adhere by the guidelines issued by the civic body.

In a circular, the municipality has asked companies to follow rules and regulations pertaining to storing dangerous goods and chemicals.

"Any company, premise and warehouse establishment that stores dangerous goods above the quantities as stated in Table 7.1 of the Code of Practice is hereby directed to secure a permit for Storage of Dangerous Goods from Environment Department at Dubai Municipality," the circular said.

Concerned establishments were informed that failure to comply with the above directives shall result in strict measures taken against them, including penalties, disconnection of services and legal action leading to closure. They were given a maximum of 30 days from date of this circular to abide by the regulations.

All establishments were urged to comply with this circular and cooperate with Environment Department officers and inspectors for the sake of public good.
