Ras Al Khaimah: Commercial outlets here have been ordered to display their price list.
The Economic Development Department on Tuesday ordered commercial outlets to paste officially-stamped copies of their price lists at their premises with immediate effect.
The department warned outlets that fail to comply of tough penalties and legal action.
Every commercial outlet should submit its price list to the department, which will review and stamp it.
Hamad Al Shamsi, deputy director of the department, said inspectors will conduct regular checks to ensure total compliance.
He said the move was taken to protect customers and to avoid overnight price hike.
The Department of Economic Development has recently received complaints about price hikes, which the traders claim to have been made following official approval from the department. Al Shamsi said traders will not be allowed to play such dirty games and make false statement about the department.
Al Shamsi said displaying the price lists is a must and was clearly mentioned in Article No. 8 of the Federal Law No. 24 for the year 2006.
He said the customers should also get a receipt of the purchased items, clearly stating the prices.
