Abu Dhabi: The Al Ain Traffic Section at Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate has launched a programme for people travelling by road to spend their Eid holidays in neighbouring countries.
The initiative aims to promote traffic awareness under Abu Dhabi Police’s strategic objectives to make roads safer.
As part of the programme, a large number of road travellers were educated on the importance of following the correct instructions to ensure the safety of their vehicles’ tyres, including the validity of the used tyre and the temperature it can handle, in addition to the favourable load and the date of manufacture.
Al Ain Traffic Section urged motorists to take all safety precautions, carry out comprehensive technical inspection of their vehicle before travelling by road, make sure they have all necessary vehicle documents and personal identification and travel-related documents for passengers.
They have been also asked to abide by the traffic rules and regulations applicable in each country.
Major Mattar Mohammad Al Muhairi, Acting Chief of Al Ain Traffic Section at Abu Dhabi Police Traffic and Patrols Directorate, said, “It is importance to ensure the validity and good condition of their vehicles’ tyres. Motorists should pay attention to the risks arising from tyre bursts especially over long distances with high temperatures during summer, which may lead to tyre wear and tear.”
Lieutenant Nasser Khalifa Al Shamesi, Public Relations Branch Manager at the Al Ain Traffic Section, said: “Failure to comply with cargo restriction may cause light vehicles to lose balance, putting the lives of both the driver and passengers at risk.”
He urged all motorists travelling by land to pay attention to the road conditions in all countries, especially in the region of Salalah in the Sultanate of Oman.
