Dubai: The UAE Financial Markets Association (UAEFMA) will organise on UAE Humanitarian Day a charity auction to sell off Islamic gold and silver coins.

The auction will take place on Ramadan 19 (Sunday) in Atlantis the Palm Hotel. Other items on sale include Arabic calligraphy artworks of poems written by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Abayas embroidered with Shaikh Zayed’s poems in the form of Arabic calligraphy will also be sold during the auction. The prices of items on sale will range from Dh500 to Dh500,000.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM), Mohammad Al Hashemi, Chairman of UAEFMA, called on Emiratis and residents to participate in the auction in the spirit of giving and charity. Al Hashemi said that the association marks UAE Humanitarian Day to reaffirm the important role of charitable work in strengthening social security and spreading a culture in which future generations will take the initiative to carry out charitable acts.

Uhoud Obaid Al Muhairi, Financial Director of UAEFMA, said that a quarter of the auction’s proceedings will be allocated for Dar Al Ber Society’s projects in the UAE and abroad.

Salman Mahmoud Hadi, Secretary General of UAEFMA, said that a number of prominent jewellers will participate in the auction by providing gold jewellery inset with precious stones.

Hadi added that among the companies participating will be Gold AE, which will offer for sale golden coins decorated with the seal of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and Madinah. Other companies that will also partake in the auction are Damas Jewellery and Anwar Jewellery.
