Dubai: Dubai Police have coordinated with Al Barjeel Group to initiate a programme where they will send alerts to its group of public networks via BlackBerry emails and SMSes.

They hope this awareness campaign will create understanding about community services offered by the police.

Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Al Dabal, Director of the International Training Section at the Department of Public Community Services at Dubai Police, said in a statement to media, that under the directions of the Chief of Dubai Police, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, the department are continuously striving to enhance their services by utilising technology.

The department has partnered with the Al Barjeel Group, which specialises in releasing news and information to the public through mobile alert services and networks. The Group will include Dubai Police social activities among its list of alerts to share with the public.

The 3,000 BlackBerry users who use the Group's services, as well as other users, will have access to police alerts through SMS and email, he said.

Alerts will include invitations, awareness campaigns and general advice.
