Dubai: As part of the Dubai Cares initiative, the Dubai Sports Council will be auctioning off time with some of the world's top sports stars including Roger Federer and Sachin Tendulkar.
The auction, due to be held on October 22, will also include sports memorabilia, according to Rashid Al Kamali, marketing manager at the Dubai Sports Council.
Friendly match
Along with the auction, the Dubai Sports Council will be taking part in the Walkathon, hosted by Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on October 19, which will begin at 5pm starting from Al Mamzar Beach Road.
Both government and private sports clubs, including high profile players, along with members of the public will be taking part.
Other activities to aid Dubai Cares include a friendly match between Dubai's football team and an 'All Star' team planned for October 26. According to Al Kamali, negotiations to secure international players are under way.
"We are participating in this important initiative to get the sporting community on board and to encourage everyone to participate," Dr Ahmad Al Sharif, Secretary-General of the Dubai Sports Council told Gulf News.
