  • Bee sting facial is a new trend

Abu Dhabi: After creating a buzz in the west, the bee sting facial has now come to Abu Dhabi.

Available at The Nail Spa in Al Wahda Mall, the facial uses bee venom to trick the skin into believing it has been stung and the skin responds by rushing in blood, collagen and elasticity to the face, leaving you looking younger — instantly.

The 70-minute indulgence starts with cleansing and gentle exfoliation. The massage is soothing and the aromatic ingredients lull you to sleep while your skin is being pampered.

What makes the facial unique is the mask using bee venom and manuka honey, renowned for its soothing and healing properties.

The bee facial has been touted as nature’s botox by celebs like Camilla Parker Bowles, Victoria Beckham and Michelle Pfeiffer. But it gained popularity after it came to light that Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, had a bee venom mask before her 2011 wedding to Prince William.

The organic ingredients smooth away frown lines and wrinkles, while Shea butter and essential oils such as rose and lavender moisturise and hydrate the skin, lending it a youthful glow.

The instant anti-ageing effect and the soft, supple feel of the skin are unmistakable. No bees are hurt while collecting the venom. And the best thing is that you get results similar to botox without using needles.

But it might burn a hole in your pocket as it costs Dh500.

Interesting article. I wonder when this SPA treatment/trend will come to LA. Although I mix my own to my wife. Highly appreciated. Bee venom can be be bought from apitoxin.se and exfoliation etc can be found at Walmart pretty cheap.
