Abu Dhabi: A recent extension to the Bani Yas slaughterhouse will allow butchers to serve 2,500 more customers per day, a statement sent by the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City said yesterday. The extension consists of a new slaughtering hall, and locker rooms for butchers. On days of high demand such as Eid, these will function along with the existing premises to meet customer demand.
Bahrain: GCC radio and TV festival begins
Abu Dhabi The UAE is participating in the GCC Radio and Television Festival, which began on Sunday in Bahrain. The UAE delegation is led by Abdullah Al Junaibi, adviser at the National Media Council for TV and Radio Cooperation, in addition to representatives of Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah TV. Al Junaibi stressed that participation in the festival will boost cooperation between the official Gulf television and radio institutions and of productive enterprises in the private sector.
Sharjah: Men arrested over vehicle smuggling
Sharjah Police yesterday arrested two men who were allegedly involved in smuggling 15 minivans and a numbers of cars parked across the city. Following complaints regarding the disappearance of a number of buses and cars, Sharjah Police formed a team of officers from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to investigate the thefts.
