Dubai: Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahd, Minister of Environment and Water, on Thursday issued a decision lifting the ban on imports of live birds from Australia.

The ban covered domestic, wild and ornamental birds, in addition to their products.

The ministry issued the decision after receiving information from the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), which indicated that no cases of bird flu infection have been reported in Australia.

This comes within the framework of the ministry’s keenness to achieve its strategic objectives with respect to its contribution to the promotion of food security and the preservation of public health, where all inbound consignments are subject to the laws and decisions of the veterinary quarantine in force in the state.
