Abu Dhabi: The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has confirmed that Masafi bottled water that is being sold in the market is safe, except for a production line that includes bottled water that is dated from October 12, 2009 - October 11, 2010.

"The production line was immediately tested after we received a number of complaints that the bottles contained residues that were visible to naked eye, which made this water unfit for consumption," Mohammad Jalal Al Reyaysa, manager of Communication and Information Department at ADFCA, said.

Inspectors at ADFIC immediately ordered the recall of that production line and the agent of Masafi pledged to withdraw bottles from that particular line from all outlets.

The ADFCA stressed the role of the public in uncovering such irregularities or violations and informing the authority so that they may investigate and resolve such matters immediately. The public is advised to monitor labels carefully to ensure that all foods are fit for consumption before buying.

"Any food company, regardless of name or size will be subject to firm control and inspection in case of any violations found in regards to their products," Al Reyaysa said.
