Holders Al Wahda trounced lowly Al Orooba, Fujairah as their second string of players displayed immense promise in their 7-1 yesterday in the President's Cup preliminary round league.

Playing their last match in the initial league, Al Wahda led 4-0 with their Qatari import scoring thrice while Mohammed Conti (2), Mohammed Salim and Basheer Saeed getting the goals. For Al Orooba, hardworking Abdul Aziz Abdulla pulled one back after his side were trailing 0-5.

In other matches, Ras Al Khaimah defeated Masafi 3-2, Al Shabab beat Al Khaleej 4-1, and Al Ahli overcame Al Hamriya 5-3. In the only drawn encounter of the night, Ittihad Kalba and Ajman shared two goals and two points with the former qualifying for the second round.

For Al Wahda, who are heading towards a historic treble after winning the FA Cup and the League title this season, the performance of their budding players must have certainly pleased Dutch coach Davis Marinus and his co-staff.

In the absence of the Juma brothers, Haider Ali Allo, Yasir Salim and Fahad Masaood, professional duo Mohammed Ennazy and Mohammed Conti got the best from the juniors.

While Yasir Salim's brother Mohammed Salim played like an experienced medio, Haider Allo Ali's brother Ali Allo impressed on the flanks. Ismail Mattar and Taufeeq also played well and with the first 15 minutes they were up 2-0.

Mohammed Salim opened the account while Conti converted a penalty to make it 2-0. The third goal was a beauty as Taufeeq and Salim combined before the latter lobbed into the far end where Conti made no mistake for his second goal.

Young Ismail Mattar, watched by his elder brother Adil from the bench turned provider for Ennazy's first goal just before the break.

Conti cross was shot home by Ennazy and leading 5-0, Wahda brought in Shiban Saleh in goal. But Nadir Abdul Karim and Abdul Aziz, who worked tirelessly despite being outplayed by the strong Wahda team, pulled one back when Aziz beat Saleh.

Bashir Saeed, unleased one of his feared left-footed drives from way out for goal number six. Al Orooba goalkeeper Abid Salem's night out, ended in further misery when little Ali Allo Ali ran down the flank to send a perfect cross for Ennazy to round off a 7-1 win.
