Abu Dhabi: The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City has started moving workers to Al Raha Workers Residential Village in Musaffah.

It has been constructed at the highest specifications of modern services and amenities.

Al Raha village has a capacity to accommodate about 32,000 workers and technicians, which is situated about 40 kilometres away from Abu Dhabi city, on an area of 233,000 square metres.

The village has all amenities and facilities such as shopping centres, commercial outlets, clinics and health centres, security posts, post office, clubs and recreational centres.

The workers are moving to their new quarters in phases, starting from Zone (7) in Mohammad Bin Zayed City at the initial stage. The rest of the workers in all areas and residential units across the city of Abu Dhabi will gradually move to the village.

The Municipality of Abu Dhabi City is taking this step in coordination with Higher Corporation of Specialised Economic Zones (Zones Corp), and Abu Dhabi Police as well as the businesses employing workers.

It is part of the efforts to provide a suitable living environment in terms of health, human and social well being of workers who are one of the core community segments contributing to the building and development process of the country.

The move is to build an integrated residential village dedicated to workers and fitted with the latest facilities and services that befits the urban, industrial and commercial development of the emirate. It also ensures the highest possible standards of living to workers and makes them feel stable and secure.

"The initiative of the Municipality to shift workers and resettle them at Al Raha village reflects the keenness to ensure decent lifestyles for workers...comprehensive development process witnessed by Abu Dhabi Emirate", the acting CEO of the municipal services sector, Owaidah Al Qubaisi said.

At the same time, the municipality is progressing with its inspection drive to combat illegal constructions in residential and commercial buildings including villas and flats in Abu Dhabi.
