Dubai: The Dubai Police and the Ministry of Labour have sent home 850 labourers stranded in the UAE after the company they worked for went bankrupt.
Dubai Police sources confirmed that the company went bankrupt after one of the managers stole an undisclosed amount of money.
The labourers were sent back to their home country after Dubai Police resolved the matter with the remaining company managers who gave Dh950,000 to buy plane tickets for the labourers.
Col. Mohammad Al Murr, Director of the General Department of Legal and Security Control at Dubai Police, said that Dubai Police intervened to send the unemployed labourers to their home country to avoid possible security concerns that might arise due to their continued stay in the country.
