30-year-old Sudanese woman gives birth to quadruplets in Dubai
A Sudanese woman gave birth to quadruplets at Al Wasl Hospital on Thursday morning, becoming the second person to do so in Dubai's recorded history, according to her family.

Dubai: A Sudanese woman gave birth to quadruplets at Al Wasl Hospital on Thursday morning, becoming the second person to do so in Dubai's recorded history, according to her family.
Nazik Awad Al Hassan, already a mother of one, gave birth prematurely to two boys and two girls at about 5am on Thursday. The babies were delivered via caesarean section and placed in incubators.
Quadruplets are very rare, with mothers having only a one-in-700,000 chance of giving birth to four babies as a result of a single pregnancy. Few quadruplet pregnancies make it to full term.
The 30-year old mother told Gulf News from her bedside that she went into labour at 2am, two months earlier than her due date.
"I wasn't surprised when they told me about the babies. I knew I was carrying quadruplets. The ultrasound I had in Sudan showed it," she said, sounding tired.
"I'm happy they were born, but I'm also worried about them because they are very small. But the doctors said there are no problems," she added.
Her father, Awad Nazik Al Hassan Annur, also expressed mixed feelings.
"I can't describe how happy I am but I am tense about the babies now," he said, adding doctors had told him it was only the second time quadruplets had been born in Dubai.
He told Gulf News his daughter and her three-year-old son had come to the UAE three months earlier to be with her parents during her pregnancy. Nazik's husband remained in Sudan, where he is employed.
However, he said his son-in-law would be arriving in the UAE today to see the four new additions to his family.
